I think I may be able to make it out there early saturday morning. I've been doing P90X all week, so I may say screw it and sleep in! But I really want to pull in some cats!

I can fish the dam from the opposite side, right? I didn't see parking in the dam area, but it didn't look that far to cast from the opposite bank...

The evaporation is taking it's toll on the lake. It's getting pretty low and the upper end is really shallow.

I talked to a guy a while back who said he had put in a small boat and used his anchor to check the dept and he said it's about 12' at it's deepest point at the lower end when full, but it's probably about close to two feet low right now.

I noticed the level was pretty low. Does the creek feed into the lake any?

No, and why they engineered that lake that way is a mystery to me?

If the creek did feed it there wouldn't be a problem, but the only runoff into the lake comes from the storm drains from the neighborhoods, and a lot of trash gets washed into the lake after a heavy rain, not to mention what else is probably washed in there. It's possible that the lake being located in the flood plain gets some water into it when the creek overflows it's banks further upstream into the drainage which then empties the excess into the lake itself, and this is quite possible since the creek doesn't really run into the lake.

I've talked to some locals that fish there a lot more than me, and they said the lake would not go dry because the fire dept had to only open a fire hydrant and put water back into the lake.

Though possible, I don't think that would happen, but I could be wrong.

Seems like a pump set up drawing water from the creek would make more sense, but having said that, I've lived near this lake for over forty years and I haven't seen it go dry yet!

Forgot to add - they were biting often, and we had a couple get off the hook too. Only saw one other person catch while we were there, not sure what all the folks there were doing. SAPD came by and made some guys move their trucks, but then, they parked in the main drive around the lake. They had some choice words for him, too (stay classy San Antonio).

Nice going George!

Those guys were lucky and got off easy if he only told them to leave, because there is one of the park police that won't warn them, but only write them a ticket.
