I have used both of them a few times at whitney lake. The jet divers work but you can get just as deep with a big crank bait (dd22)and be careful in the heat I had a clear jet diver melt in my box.The pink lady works very well about every 2 feet back you go a foot down.

I've had a little luck with them, but most of them don't dive nearly as deep as they're supposed to. You can get some good info by Googling "Depth Chart for Diving Planers." They're very sensitive to the diameter of your line, the length of line, speed, etc. I can't get them to run true except with a very light lure (a .2 oz. spoon works best for me.) Most of my luck recently has come with the #40 Jet Diver, which I've been able to find only online. (Academy carries the smaller ones.)

I've used them, but prefer the Hellbender with a 12 or 13 Pet Spoon

for a diver you cant beat "walker deeper diver" IMHO they have a trigger that trips when a fish bites or when you jerk on them so you dont have to reel against the diver. work great with a pet spoon behind them. you can order them online from bps or cabelas.

It all depends on what you're trying to do. All these devices have advantages and disadvantages.
I've received some Deep Sixes, a Luhr-Jensen product, but haven't had a chance to try them out yet. They have a "trip" feature, like the Dipsy Diver.
My best fish have come on the Fish Seeker, or Davis Fish Seeker. It will get you deeper than a Jet Diver, but is a bit cranky. I'm going to pick up a couple of the Walker types, next time I order. Looks like a good product.

Have not heard of the "Walker deeper diver" but sounds similar to the PINK LADY rig, I'll check it out thanks! I looked on the Luhr-Jensen website and saw the deep six. Did not see the fish seeker though. they have basically re-vamped a version of the original PINK LADY also. Thank ya gents!

have not tried the pink lady but the jet diver is way to finicky for me- kept coming to the top- skipping sideways, retie- act fine then start acting up again
hellbender or DD 22 for me
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I have a lot of luck on the 20' and 30' jet divers. whites and hybrids eat them up during the summer. you need to be in open water though. Trees will cause it to wrap and surface. I usually find a suspended group of fish at 20-30 feet and drag a pet spoon through them on a jet diver. If you don't cast the diver out, just free spool the line from the side of the boat you get a lot fewer issues. don't use big baits on the back of these or you will also have issues. I keep two rods rigged up this way at all times. great fun for me and my son.

I had a lot of trouble with the Jet Divers coming to the top. They can be sneaky about it too, and stay up there a long time before you see what they're up to. I think I've finally got it figured out, though. #1, you have to use a very light lure, one which doesn't create water resistance. Otherwise, the diving fins will be tilted upwards, causing the diver to surface. A #14 pet spoon is about the max for the 40 ft. model diver. For the smaller ones, I wouldn't use anything larger than the #13 pet. Second, they will run shallow unless your lure leader, the leader you attach to the diver, is a good 4 or 5 feet long. And then there's speed. Too fast, and they will surface. 3 mph is about the max, and 2.5 is better. They will also surface if your turns are too tight.
I have a Hellbender in my tackle box, and it has its uses. I can't get deeper that 15, maybe 17 ft. deep with it though, unless I attach a bell sinker to the front treble hook mount. This makes it rather tiresome to retrieve. Some people see this as some kind of "loyalty" issue. I don't.
Trees and diving devices don't mix.

to duff's point, I use a #12 or 13 pet spoon and go at 2.2-2.5

I heard they were pretty finicky when it comes to line size, speed, lure weight. I did find a device on BPS website called a planner board that seems to get fairly good reviews. Thanks again for all the input fellas.
