Its been a while since I even hit the water or even made a report.. There where balls of shad all over the mid to lower section of the lake but couldn't get bit targeting the bait balls. Fished the pads with popping frogs and swimming frogs and only managed a couple blow ups. Next went and found some deep rocks in the 12-20ft range but noticed there is a alge bloom going on and its stained the water up pretty good and had no luck with that pattern...

So went and found some deep water stumps in that 8-15ft range with a depth change next to the stumps.. graphed the area and saw that the fish where suspended so started cranking that area with shad colored kvd 1.5 crankbaits and got into a school of fish in 1-4 lb range, bite slowed down a bit so picked up a 6" lizard and caught a couple more.... Had a couple boats in the area watching us and they slowly crept on top of us so we called it a day and left..

Good day overall, ended up boating about 16 fish or so, and only saw 2 ski boats but saw quite a few fisherman out and kayakers.. No pics, sorry....

Did they not lower the lake after all? Thoughtit was going to be down for 2 months.

Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) staff again adjusted the Lake Dunlap Dam repair schedule following a meeting with a Preserve Lake Dunlap Association (PLDA) representative about the lowering of Lake Dunlap for contracted repair work on the dam. Under the new schedule, the lake lowering will commence Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011.

Under the revised schedule, GBRA and PLDA representatives have agreed to address some potential water safety hazards around Lake Dunlap, such as removing some of the partially submerged tree stumps and installing warning signage in appropriate areas.

�In the spirit of compromise, GBRA met with PLDA representatives so that both parties would have a full understanding of the respective issues involved with delaying much-needed repairs to the dam,� Bill West, GBRA general manager said, and explained, �We want to accommodate our constituents� desire for summer recreational activity on the lake, but we want to act responsibly with respect to safety, so we feel like a the new schedule was reasonable.�

On May 18, the GBRA�s Board of Directors authorized GBRA�s general manager to enter into an agreement with the lowest project bidder to conduct repairs on the dam at Lake Dunlap. Initially, the repairs would have begun earlier, but the new schedule allows repair work to begin Aug. 14, 2011, continuing for an approximate 60- to 90-day period.

Super Report! I fish Dunlap a lot mainly for the Sunfish. I have caught a few nice Bass. I usually fish that lake at least twice a week. I also love the other two river lakes Mcqueeney and Placid.
