After 30+ years of fishing and getting close, I finally boated my first DD two weeks ago. Yessssss!
Only took me 15 years of fishing Lake Austin to do it. I hope I don't have to wait another 15.
I've never killed anyone, but I've read several obituaries with great enjoyment.

I have been fishing falcon for thirty days. Those that know me can see my FB page and could verify I'm hammering on some big fish. Now I fish 5-6 days a week for 4-6 hours a day. Well we put a heavy whacking on big fish but no tens. If anyone thinks getting a ten is easy anywhere dream on. True Dat!

Have to remember that once you leave TX the fish shrink a lot. Other than TX, CA, and FL fish over 10lbs are very rare. Kudos to those of you who have caught multiple DD bass, not sure you know how fortunate you are to have caught them.

Caught plenty of 10s on fork, falcon, amistad, and a couple on choke. One 11 on fork. Falcon is incredible. I can't believe how good fishing has been the last few yrs. Id rather be in the north texas woods than the desert though. :-(

To me a 10 lb fish is truly a once in a lifetime type accomplishment. We have caught 45 ten plus pound fish since December (yes each one weighed and photographed) out of my boat and each one is still a special fish that shouldn't be discounted. Lots of time and hard work go into catching those fish...they aren't under every tree as some may try to lead you to believe! Lol
We are truly blessed to live in a state with resources like Texas with a top notch TPWD managing them. That is quite an accomplishment... Were they all caught on Ivie? May have t book a trip with you in the future.. Yes all on OH Ivie and all on artificial baits. NO live bait needed! lol

I agree with the poster that said it has a lot to do with where you fish. I have 10 over 10 lbs with 2 of those over 11 lbs. I have caught 7 of them at El Salto and 3 on Falcon.

I may be alone here but I have managed several dd bass in my time fishing. The biggest was 12.2,but after my first one the bar was never set at twelve. My sights are set on a teenager now.I am not even asking for sal season just one over 13.Mine have been from public and private water all were equaly difficult to catch. No matter were they are they didnt get big by eating every jig or worm that came by there face.Just because it is a small lake you think they just swim up and tailwalk right into the boat lol.

I agree 100%. After the 1st DD my goal was a teen. Since the teen I have caught 2 more DD but no longer have a tangible goal.

10 is a heck of a fish. A lot of lakes in the state of Texas have the ability of a rare 10 with the exception of Choke, Ivie, Falcon, Fork, Amistad, Conroe, and Alan Henry. I was fortunate enough to catch a DD last month at Ivie but I have a lot of people telling me where the big girls hang out. My pic is deceiving since all we had was a cell phone for pics. But I she weighed 10-6 once my scales stopped bouncing. I took the measurements to make sure she was 10-6. At 28 1/2" length and 15 3/8 Girth the formulas show her weighing anywhere from 10-2 thru 10-10. As far as im concerned a DD from anywhere is a feat worth bragging about. Theres is a ton of pros that have not even caught a DD. So kudos to anyone that has.
