Okay guys. I'm taking my son fishing Saturday and we're looking at Lewisville because it seems to have the best fishing reports going. The problem is that I've never been on that lake and don't have a clue where to start looking.

Any information you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. Where to launch, which direction to head, and what places to avoid would all be great. We're planning to be on the lake at daybreak and fish until the heat pushes us off, which probably means well before noon.

Working to play

Follow the yellow stained wave, or just look for schooling fish on the southeast side all the way to the north. If that fails than head west, but somewhere in between should be 5-10+ boats slabbing their arses off. Good Luck!

If you've never been to Lewisville before, head for the dam and just follow the Fountain cruiser w/ the guy slabbing off the sun deck.. But don't tell anyone I told you.. Shhh..

Lakepark is a good plade to put in but it will cost $10. It is off of I35 on the southwest part of the lake. Opens at 7am. Just head out towards the main body of the lake and look for other boats while heading to the north. Hate to say it but just follow the boat shows if new to the lake.

Bring binoculars and look for the "boat show". Make sure to bring your battle gear (pole, topwater lure, slabs, flies, water, gatorade, powerade, minutemaid, etc...). It can get testy out there on a Saturday morning, so if you have young ones with virgin ears, you might want to stay back a bit (better fishing back a bit anyway).

That doesn't always work. I wish I could claim a 100% success rate, but sadly I cant. If you can find the big white birds diving, they have a better success rate! They eat to live, not live to eat like me!

PittState is right. The birds have showed back up this week and are providing easy scouting for the sand bass. Find the birds and you will find fish.

Slabs and tail spinners are providing a consistent bite right now. match the hatch with your size of bait. the sand bass are eating 1.5"-2" shad right now. Throw chartreuse or blue/silver spoons less than 1oz.....That's my 2 cents.

If you see someone in a crappy aluminum cussing his motor that will be me. feel free to follow or come say hi. I'll be putting in at little elm and heading towards dead man's and twin poles probably. might make it to the dam and try to catch hybrids also. It will depend on the wind for me.

Bassthumb,

So the birds are back? Great! Haven't been out in 2 weeks but going out tonight. Any Hybrids under those birds or are they all closer to Lake Park/Dam area? Appreciate the help!!!

I was surprised to see them this week, but they have showed back up. we caught two hybrids under them yesterday but mostly sand bass. I have not been on the hybrids much in the past two weeks. I have heard that lake park has been producing. i will be fishing with live bait in the morning near lake park most likely.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me! Much appreciated! Have the hybrids been top water at all yet? Just curious.
