Relax man.
I know I haven't but like I said, seems the 10's are coming around more often. Maybe its technology and its being documented more often. I am still looking forward to a ten but man to land a 12 is where I want to be. Nothing arrogant about my own personal goal. Just sharing my opinion.

I have got several 10lb+ fish but they all came from private ponds. I would love to get a 10lb+ of a public lake.

To me a 10 lb fish is truly a once in a lifetime type accomplishment. We have caught 45 ten plus pound fish since December (yes each one weighed and photographed) out of my boat and each one is still a special fish that shouldn't be discounted. Lots of time and hard work go into catching those fish...they aren't under every tree as some may try to lead you to believe! Lol

We are truly blessed to live in a state with resources like Texas with a top notch TPWD managing them.

No way 10 is 10. My first Doubld Digit fish was so close I have not put myself in the Double Digit Class.

The fish was huge, long and skinny, and tipped a digital scale at 10.01. That is where the scale settled down at. The scale bounced from 9.15 to 10.00 to 10.01.

So I still want a solid 10.15 or something then move on to 12. So No way am I classifying the new 10 as a 12. Heck Our club just caught 332 fish at Falcon and only 1 10lbr was weighed in - This included 3 60lb stringers and a winning stringer of 71lbs. Too many 8's and 9's to count, but only 1 10. So I say 10 is the mark for most.

As someone who has caught a bunch of DD fish from both public and private waters, I think 10lbs is still the majic number. You have to hunt where big bucks live or you'll never kill one. Same for fishing.

That's what makes Texas so great. Any of Texas' public lakes could produce a 10+, as do many well-managed private waters. For that, we can thank Bob Kemp, the Florida Bass and TPWD. Kemp used his own money to bring the first Florida Bass to the Tyler fish hatchery in the early seventies.

The whitetail score bar has been raised due to line-breeding and releases of superior genetics. We're not there yet for largemouths, and a 10 pound bass is still a rare commodity and an accomplishment to be very proud of. Whether you catch them in public or private waters, you still have to get 'em in the boat. They ALL count to me.

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

I would discount any DD fish caught in a pond.

Back in the 60s here in Texas the magic number was 7 pounds. That was considered a trophy fish. Of course that was back before the importing of the Florida Largemouth (Micropterus salmoides floridanus). A 7 pound Northern Largemouth (Micropterus salmoides salmoides) is still a trophy.

Personally, a 10 pound largemouth is still a trophy just about anywhere. Now I must say that at Fork this is not so much the case. At Lake Fork I would say that a 12 pounder is going to be the trophy mark. For someone that lives in Wood, Rains, or Hopkins counties the 12 pound mark is likely to be the target for trophydom. For us less blessed mortals 10 pounds is indeed a trophy.
