Split Cane makes some awfully sweet cane fly rods. If you like the cane experience you could do far worse than one if his bamboo rods.
I have cast them, sweet indeed.

Nautilus, I own a Temple Fork Outfitters Series One 3wt. rod and love it for small bream and medium bass. I put a cheap Cabelas reel on it w/ Cabelas line and it works great! I specifically bought it cuz I fish small creeks that are loaded w/ bream and Rio Grande perch. Got the whole rig for under $150, the great thing about TFO is that if you break it you ship it to them w/ $25 bucks(for shipping) and they will repair or replace the rod! Can't beat that! If you are looking for another good website take a look at www.texasflyreport.com Tight lines! Dosxx saurbanflyfishing

Hard to read a good series of posts like this without sticking my nose in the middle, but may I suggest you don't start fly fishing with level line. It may work well for tying packages, but a weight forward line to match your rod will make you fall in love with the long wand a lot quicker. Obviously I'm just tossing in my .02 worth, but I taught fly flinging for a few years (close to 20)when I had a daily TV fishing show in south Florida, and one of my pet peeves was the fact that level line was ever considered a useful adjunct to any combination of fly rod and reel. =ROSS=
