When you guys launch at a marina do y'all pay the boat ramp fee? I am new to canoe fishing and I pay the ramp fee but the other day when I took my wife out she asked why I was paying the ramp fee cause we only park and carry the canoe to the water. I am not looking to rip anyone off but $10-15 just to put my canoe in the water does sound a little much since I am taking up no more space than a car parked there and not using trailer spots or the boat ramp.Thoughts?

I always pay if there is a drop box. If it is at a marina, I'll go in and ask and they usually do not take my money.

I asked at Lynn Creek Marina, and if you aren't launching from a trailer, they don't charge. I would just ask your local marina if you aren't sure. No sense in spending money you don't have to.

My routine has always been... If launching at a marina, go ask. If launching from any park I try to contact the park prior to launching. If I am unable to reach anyone, I don't pay unless I launch from a trailer.

there is a boat fee on lake arlington. you can pay it for daily use or for the year. the ramps are free but you can't put a boat of any kind in that lake without paying the fee.

The places I've been that there is a person working the gate, they don't charge me the ramp fee just an entrance fee. So if I go to a place with a pay machine or drop box and they charge two different fees I don't pay the ramp fee.

If there's a charge at the gate, I just assume that the attendant sees my yak and charges me whatever is necessary. If it's a drop box, I pay. At Mill Creek there's a ramp permit that you're supposed to get from the PD there, but I've called them and they said that if you don't actually use the ramp itself, you don't need it. So I just launch next to the ramp.

I eschew fees. I very rarely launch where they charge fees. I am thinking about getting a Annual Core permit however. At 30 bucks that is one of the best bargains out there.
