Culeoka,
I used an albright knot to connect mine, however, that can get tricky due to different line diameters. Most recommend that you use a nail knot...that is also kinda hard to tie. Go to www.flyanglersonline.com Click on the fly fishing basics link on the lefthand side of the page and then once that loads, click on the knots section. Try Castwell's knot...that seems the simplest way to join line/leader together. By the way, knots do matter...big knots won't go through the line guides and can effect your casting! Hope this helps!

You may have already tied your knot, but I would suggest a loop to loop connection. The loop that goes on the flyline works along the lines of the chinese finger puzzle. The resulting connection really goes through the guides well. I finish the connection with a blood knot on the flyline loop just to make sure it doesn't pull through.

I like the loop to loop as well. Its all personal preference but that's mine. Makes it easier to change leaders in case the need arises.

Robin are you back from your time in the pen in Florida? Did thet let you out early for good behavior?

On Monday at Fork I caught a 9 lb largemouth on my 9' - 6/7 wt fly rod using a Peck's Popping Bug. You can see a picture of it on the Texas Fly Report website. Come see us there.

If you have a bobbin, use a whipped loop. Havn't looked, but google may have it

rrhyne56 and chip - howdy to you both. yes i'm still flyfishing ! my cast is geting beter but my landing is still to hard most of the time. i think i'm running them off, stead of catchimg them. however i got some good info the other day. i was told to aim about a foot above the spot of choice, and it will make my landing softer, it's working. by the end of summer, i think i'll have quite the handle on this flyfishing thing.
[ casting that is ] i've cought some nice crappie on the flyrod. 14" and 16" crappie on my lite flyrod feel like 10lb bass. i havent cought much flyfishing persay, but my flyrod has 2 bass and aprox. 60 crappie under it's belt !
by the way, my first knot, and still [the same] knot is a nail knot. but like i said, it's knot perty.
lifes a pond, fish it !

culeoka,
a bobbin holds the spool of thread while tying flies. A whipped loop is smooth and stronger than the flyline. see it here
