www.portaransas.orgSeveral piers and the Jetties too. Surf fishing is generally good farther south. Drive south on the beach, passed the pylons. Find green water and light surf. Get out there early...like daybreak.

If you are just starting out try using Gulp shrimp. Fish it just like live bait. You can put it under a popping cork and pop it. There is a ton of good spots to fish down there. Good luck

Really depends on the species you want to target. As mentioned in other reports, whiting will probably be available, dead shrimp would probably be best. I like lures, Gulp shrimp, spoons (gold or silver), topwaters real early if the surf is calm. I'll be hammering on them all next week!

Most people that go to the jetties/piers are chunking bait. Most of them chunk dead shrimp. My experience has been that live bait works best. However, artificial lures can sometimes catch more fish that bait. There's a wide variety of fish to be caught from the jetties. I recommend an assortment of soft and hard plastics, topwaters, and spoons.

I won't be down this weekend. I'll be down the following weekend though but will be offshore all day Sat. Aug. 13 then headed back home on Sun.
