Can you fish the Blue River in hip boots, or do you need chest high waders? Thanks

if you have the chest waders bring them. If not then be prepared to do a bit more roll casting.

thought I'd better add in a bit more info. The Blue has lots of little surprises for the incautious wader. If you are slow, plan your steps and don't step where you can't see it ought to be just fine. I always wade with a staff as there is a hole named after me, Submarine Hole (guess how it got its name).

Lots of washouts and potholes worn into the rock. Its not very slippery but it does have a good deal of unevenness.

I talked to one guy who said he always used a float tube up there just for those surprize drop offs. had to be a round one, not the uboat type and it just was to keep him from going under at thaose spots. I never been there but sounds like a good idea.

now that is a good idea. And there are a few stretches where a tube would put you out in some good water. There is an especially large stretch right below the low water crossing.

That sounds like a good idea...but...what do you do with the tube when your not "floating"? hold it?....I can see where this could have an appeal, but not sure I want to drag my tube around all day. Unless you just found a nice hole and stayed there.

I'd float the pool below the low water crossing and then leave the tube in the vehicle. It would indeed have to be a modified plan to fish the bigger holes with a tube. There are a few up in the walk-in area as well as below by the campsites.
