Might be heading there in a week or two. The folks I'll be going with are bait fishers and caught plenty of trout last week, but I want to fish with the flyrod of course. Has anyone fished there before?

Fish that area every year. If you have a tube or pontoon it would be best then head to Railroad cove ...nice cuts hang out there. South Cove can be good also but it's really open and the wind can blow you around pretty good.

Black wooly buggers, arizona lady peacocks and simi seel leaches.

It's not going to be pretty ....the big fire burned that area pretty bad and alot of it is just now reopening.

The latest issue of SW Flyfishing has a good article on Big Lake, Crescent and Sunrise Lake ...might be helpful.

I go out there every fall in late Sept or early Oct ...best time to go ...summer crowds are gone, aspens are turning and the elk are horny!

Thanks for the info. Plans have changed, and IF we go now, we're going next week now. Don't really want to miss my only couple of days of dove season though.
