If they took it from the water with a firearm, TPWD says that is illegal. For it to be legal, it would have to be on property. If they didnt have permission, that would also be illegal. Hope they get the facts worked out.
Lawful Firearms:
Important Notice Firearms may be used to take alligators only on private property. It is unlawful to take an alligator by means of firearms from, in, on, across or over public water. Centerfire only; rimfire unlawful, except for dispatch.
