Fished Roberts today and mainly just scouted since it has been a while... Lots of small blacks, really small, schooling out in 15-20ft on points. Had a number of blow ups with some larger fish mixed in and caught two one around 2lb on CR fry and one around 5lbs, that use to be in the 10lb range based on the size of it's head, on top water. There is a ton of milfoil all around the main lake in 3-5ft of water with tons of fingerlings in it. Had wads of them following the topwater to the boat. I fished the long point out from isle dubois and saw three boats run aground while on plane. I was around 200-300 yards off the bank sitting in 5-8ft of water. The boats tried to cut between me and the bank to cross between the east and west arms. I thought they were coming in to fish the drop on that ridge but they keep on going until the motor was jolted to a stop. I was able to wave the ski boat with his small son in tow off but they almost had a bad day since they were heading straight for the foundation. The foundation on that point is almost dry and there are some monster stumps in 2ft of water right next to 11ft of water just south (towards the dam) of the foundation where it appears clear and deep when there is just a slight ripple on the water.

Please be more specific on the location regarding the place to avoid.

Me and Cates Point had a little run-in four weeks ago. I lost. James Propeller did a fine job re-building my prop and skeg and Rockwall Marine replaced my bent prop shaft. It was a $1,482 "run-in". Been there dozens of times. That's what I get for ogling the babes on the wake board boat passing by instead of paying attention to the graph.

I have seen several boats go over or hit the foundation on that point, you would think that the TPWD or Corps would put a warning bouy on that point, somebody is going to get hurt one of these days, that point runs way out into the lake, not eveyone has a gps on their boats.

That's a great idea, I wish they would put a buoy out there. I have GPS and still hit the gravel bar. Again, because I was not paying attention.

I almost did the same thing a few weeks ago. You have to run that thing uncomfortably wide to be ok.

Wife and I rescued 4 people a couple of years ago who hit that fundation and ripped the rear end out of a ski boat.

You can go to Google maps, satellite view, and see that foundation (and gravel bar) very clearly. It is where Baylorbassguy indicates. It is almost exactly due west of the Isle DuBois pier on the opposite bank near the main lake point. It is only in about a foot of water in the current Google sat photo.

Cates Point is the Main Lake Point that separates the East and West arms of the lake.

If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life,
there'd be a shortage of fishing poles
