You downrig at the coast?!?! for the bull reds? That'd be some sweet downrigging there. I am going to try and make it to cali today but if the downrigging is slow again im prolly gonna just go to the wall and deal with the crazies! lol cheers keep the reports coming redfishon i enjoy reading them.

You know you can't troll for reds at the coast, lol! How you been man, hadn't talked to you OR FISHED WITH YOU in a while.

heading out there sat. morning. We dont have down riggers, but can we do any good trolling some spoons and rat-l-traps? What about drifting some live bait. We dont get on the wall, as we are not looking for fish to eat. We just like to catch them and then we throw them back. Some people on the wall seem to get upset when we throw fish back.

Also, I dont hear anyone talking about the hybrids in the lake. Everyone is focused on redfish.

Redfish are not like other fish they fight themselves to death. If they are 25inch or smaller no big deal but the larger ones die alot of the time when released not good for anyone except racoons.. I drift bait after hittting one trolling worked good 3 hook ups..Thats why someone said something to you.

yeah for sure limp line... with the water being so hot right now with the 105* temps we've been having the big fish come up SO bloated, they are just going to die. We hossed a few of them in at the wall wednesday and they didn't bloat up and we released em. it sucks basically unless you want a big meat haul lol

I am wanting to get down there to get me some reds. I just got back from Gulf Shores and got a good 35# red off the pier there. That was some fun. One of these days I will make it down and hopefully meet some of you. I am also a weekdayer. Hate to fish weekend.

Yeah, so what's the deal? Does anybody fish for or at least happen to catch any decent numbers of hybrids? I don't ever see any posts about Cali or Braunig in the Whites/Hybrids/Stripers section. TPWD has stocked A LOT of those fish in there... I hear a lot about catfish and especially reds. What's up with these hybrids?
