I'm out !

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

Ah the Gurgler, and it's variations. Wherever you are Jack, thank you for this one.

I love tying these flies because each one, as I wrap it up, gets a little "you will get blasted!" drop of mojo dripped on it.

Did a little research, seems kind of like a popper/clouser hybrid.

Kind of cool ...

The cool part is that the inventor of it was a gin swilling NY cabbie who used to clamp his vice to his steering wheel to tie between fares. That and the fact that it's a very effective and elegantly simple fly. smile

I don't think I'm getting the clouser similarity though.

you know SC that that same logic,
when you discover you've been watching a totally WRONG category of adult videos,

JUST DOESN'T HOLD TRUE.

Well, no, then it's an upside down bugger with foam that makes it float right side up.

Everyone needs Gurglers.

Jack drove cabs in Boston and frequently fished for stripers there. I could listen to his stories for hours. Flyfishing lost one of its best when he passed.

Just because it uses bucktail as the tail dosen't mean anything. Here's the Orvis article on it with a tying video. Gurgler

My apologies, Dale. I got my NE cities mixed up.

I think Jack prefered the striper fishing around Boston, but I am sure he would let you buy him a drink and then go fishing somewhere. A few years ago someone gave me a piece of driftwood that has been varnished and has 4 holes drilled in it to hold some wine corks. A gurgler Jack tied for me lives in one of them and it is always within sight of my confuser in my home office. I prefer to think that Jack is looking on as I type this.

Have fun with this stuff. I know Jack always did.
