We got out about 6:00 yesterday. We keep the boat at Lake Country Marina, and since I've read several posts about fishing around all the docks in there, that's what we did. The fishing was very very slow. We threw a pretty good variety at them, brush hogs, worms, rattle traps, spinners etc. Nothing seemed to entice the bite. So, once we decided to go try another location, I put out one of our trolling poles jut to drag out of there, and caught the only LMB of the night. I was expecting to drag in a few small white bass, so this was a pleasant surprise. Then, right about the time I put this one back in the water the whites started schooling all around us. So, that made up for the lack of catching earlier. We each reeled in a handful of small whites using a Little George and an Ol Ugly Slab. All in all, it was a slow evening, but still a good one.

I am new to LMB fishing in lakes. I have a pretty good variety of worms and brush hogs etc. However, I have not been too productive with them. I am using a T-rig I believe. I have some rigged with a sliding cone shaped weight above the hook and some with a split shot. Sometimes, I just reel it straight in, sometimes I try to give it some flutter and jig it up and down. Does it sound like I am on the right track here? Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. I know EM is a difficult lake to catch consistent fish from, so that's the excuse I've been using.

your on the right track adam. eml is getting a little tougher here lately with the heat, is what i blame it on. nothing wrong with useing the brushhogs and rigging them they way you are. might throw a fairly deep crank around some, in some type of shad pattern. i have had some luck at the breakwater wall coming out of lake country/harbor one area. throw a worm right against that wall and you should catch some little ones with a few decent ones mixed in. spitshot might be real good there, they been hitting it on the fall, so your splitshot would give it that slower presentation. stay after em, your doing right thing and in the right area, IMO.

Thanks Rock. I have heard a few others talk about that breakwater, so We'll definitely have to give it a try. I'd be perfectly happy to catch small ones all day!
