I know a lot of you guys catch your bream on rod and reel. I usually throw a trap in a local creek overnight. I loaned my truck out this weekend and don't want to use the persons car to transport the fish/trap.

If I go to a local pond, or even the creek, how do I get them to come to one spot? Last time I fished the river I caught a bunch of them but they were all feeding on a piece of buffalo that i put in the water. I usually never see them in the river so I don't want to count on this.

I plan on doing some flatty fishing Saturday evening and need to load up during the day. Any tips on what time to go out and how to locate them to make quick work of it? What bait do you usually use? Hot dogs usually work but maybe there's something better?

I'd like to load up in half an hour and be done with it. As always, your advice is much appreciated! Thank you!

just head out an hour or so before you plan on fishing, hit up a boatramp/dock, or a nice tree lines spot on the bank, use pieces of live worms, and a bobber, start at about 2ft deep. you should get on em pretty easily.

I second the boatramp spot. And have you ever used a castnet. I always get enough to fish with using one.

Thanks for the tips fellas. Never used a castnet. I think I am going to try a creek up the road. No boat ramps close to me. Thanks!

I have a local lake where I guess someone has been feeding the sunfish. I take a handful of crackers and get 'em all worked up feeding then hit 'em with a cast net. Rarely do I need to throw it a second time. Good luck!

Two boat ramps right at Arlington lake. I also know two creeks full of bluegill around here. Good thing is they are all in one puddle! But no telling how long water will be in the spots.

I bait'm at Comache-Trail Lake. Here in Big Spring with, Cracker-crumbs and Bread. Use a 4$ Canepole from Wal-Mart, with the rigging that comes with it. Fish in the shade: and fight off the Ducks and Geese.lol.
Can catch 'bout 20. Before 9 am. Kinda fun too.

Buy you some cricket hooks, they are small hooks with a long shank on them, then bend the hook kind of like a Kale hook and they can't hardly swallow the hook!!!

Good Luck to Ya!!!

Ken, unfortunately Lake A is about 30 minutes from me (I am as far Northeast Arlington as you can get!) and I have a packed morning tomorrow. There is a little creek up in Grapevine off of 360 that I have caught a bunch in in my trap. I am hoping I can make quick work there. If not, I guess I will be hitting Randol Mill Park or something.

Thanks for all the advice fellas. I appreciate it! Lga, I have some of those and will give that a shot. Thank you sir.
