 How fast can an armadillo swim?

Saw one on Tawakoni today at least a mile from the nearest land.
Some folks rescued it and took it to the bank.
Maybe Superduck can post a picture....

That's funny!!!
Back in the early 90's my customers and I saw one swimming out off the holiday humps about mid morning...when we went in about 4:00 in the afternoon some guy pulls his boat into Holiday jumps out with a net full of armadillo and says (look what I caught!!!)
So I don't know how fast they can swim but evidently they can swim for along time !!!
Or maybe they were schooling that day.

We went to investigate birds working in the area, they were diving on the critter.

Let the dang thing drown! What a distructive, desease ridden animal. They are territorial and, according to TPWD it is better to eliminated the animal than relocate it where it will die. Humane is to send it to the big armadillo range in the sky. Other than that, cute story.
