How deep or shollow are the bass and what are they hitting on? Thanks for any help!

I went yesterday and fished for 4 hours and didn't even get a bite! I fished shallow, deep, and everywhere in between - Nada!

I was fishing in the heat of the day, 2-6pm, and that may have had something to do with it, but I've been catching fish during that time, so I had no reason to figure I'd zero.

For the last month, the fish have been on points, biting C-rigged brushhogs for me. I've also been catching some fish on deep-diving crankbaits.

None of that worked yesterday.

Hopefully, some of the other guys had better luck than me and might get on here with a little help for you.

Same story here man. The other day main lake points produced one little under on a dd22. As we were heading in, we decided to hit the brushpile just outside the state park for a minute and caught a 2.5 lber. I think in this heat they're really hanging on deep cover like that brushpile pretty tight. Haven't really gone to water past 30'. They might be there too. Just got to find that deep cover and throw a small something or another at them slow-like (drop shot finesse worm or baby fluke)

I've been out in the mornings, approx. 6:30-8:30, for the past few days. I've been getting hits on buzzbaits and pop-r's, then moving to texas rigged worms a little deeper. I can't give you exact depths because I fish from a kayak w/o a depth finder. I'm new to the scene and don't know the lake very well, but that's what's been working for me.

Good luck!

Was out this morning from 6:300 - 11:00. Got nothing on points C-riggged or Texas rigged. My daughter and I did get a few white bass on cranks though.

With this heat wave I don't see how they'd be moving back shallower just yet.

I can't handle the heat like I used to, so I haven't logged my normal hours on Pool this year. BUT--I recall many summers the fish would start moving back into the creeks in late July/early August. Many 30+ fish days in 6ft or less on Joe Pool.

Where is the thermocline on Pool right now? that could explain them moving shallower.
