First time wading for flounder. Got the essentials and the basic idea. Just curious about any good spots or tips. Will be going Aug 12-14. Also, does a full moon disrupt anything?

Welcome edude! Guys this is my buddy and he is new to the forum. I personally have never gigged a flounder but am willing to give it a try.

Actaully most people that fish for flounder around Seadrift are some of the locals.People launch their boat and head out to catch trout and reds.Gigging for flounder is very good at times along the ''beach front'' or the wall that is adjacent to the boat launch.Make sure you gig a flounder and not a sting ray.

We will be taking a boat and Will hopefully get some reds and trout. We will launch out of Charlies for fishing and assuming stay In same general area for flounder. Never done it so I'm pretty stoked. Definitely dont want any rays.

If your going out of Charlies go through the cut and both shore lines both right and left should hold trout, reds, and flounder.

@ ksk,
Thanks for the info. I'm hoping all goes well and we can come back with a few ice chest full of fresh catch. Did you use fresh mullet?

Sorry,I have not thrown bait since the early 70's when I fished with my grandfather.I throw soft plastics, top waters and crank baits. This summer I decided to throw nothing but sliver/gold spoons with different color bucktails that I tie myself.I'm having pretty good luck.I'll go back to my others this Fall.

I like the all spoon idea. That would certainly make my wading box lighter! I have toyed with the idea of fishing all topwaters for a period of time just for kicks. I may try all spoons myself. smile
