Put the yak in by the dam and tried the rocky points heading NW. Zip. Zero. Nada. Then cruised the dam. Found one pocket of schoolie striper right up against the dam. Picked up 1 on a cupped faced Bob's Banger. Fished floating and sinking lines. Even trolled. Could not buy a strike on clousers, spinsters, or anything else. Paddled my behind off. Maybe the action will improve in a few weeks. Too tired to type anymore.

Hey Will, I'd like to try Texoma sometime... I dont have a yak, but have a small boat. Maybe let me know when you go next time... How big was that striper?

That striper was small schoolie size, probably 2-2.5lb. max. I am going to give it about 2-3 weeks before going back. However, if the weekend weather starts to look a little bad, i.e. overcast, rain, etc., I may make another run before then. Striper seem to like really crappy weather.

I've been to Texoma a couple of times, but fished only spinning tackle with not very much luck. I have yet to give it a try up by the Dam and the state Park. I would definitely be interested in meeting you up there to fish sometime. I fish out of a Kayak too, it's a WS Ride.

Hey DB - my yak is a ride too. Really like it. Got it outfitted with fly rod holders and a depth finder. Even made my own cart for getting it to the water. Wish I had discovered yak fishing a long time ago. Used to have a sizeable boat - and the related cost and inconvenience. Now I fish a lot more days. Stores in my garage - just throw it in the truck and go. I can't fish this weekend, but check your calander for Sun 8/31. Maybe we can put a few in the cooler.

Hey Will,
I will be out of town the weekend of the 31st. Going down to Austin/San Antonio for my nephew's baptism . If time allows, I hope to work in at least one morning fishing trip on town lake.
I really like fishing out of my ride too. For a depth finder I use a smart cast/wrist mounted unit which works ok.
Catch a few of those silver sides for me next weekend. Maybe next time our schedules will work out better.

Hey DB - As it turns out, I'll be in Austin too. Problem is, both of my kids w/b there for soccer tournaments. That makes me a limo driver and ATM machine w/no time for fishing. However, I may still try to squeeze in Mon. AM (before the jet skiers and 70 mph. boaters get up) on Texoma. Depends on how late we drag in from Austin. If monday early looks like a possibility for you, let me know.
