I will be heading down the beach Sunday arround noon . When will you be going? I would not mind traveling with someone and I have 4X4 with chains and a cummalong. If anyone is planning to make the trip I would think it a smart idea to have 4X4 and try your best to team up with another vehicle.(not2X2) They will get you into trouble!
Email me if anyone is interested!

bigshellbob is my usual handle Ive fished bigshell too long since before it was a national seashore. The 4 wheel drive sign means what it says you will need it most times and knowing how to drive sand helps too.Yes Ive driven to mansfield jetties in two wheel drive but this year,Remember dont dig jackup build up to get out. big shell or little shell then big shell is about 18 miles to 35 miles stretch of beach of beach get a map at park head quarters. current are close there and water gets deep a little faster there It can be good or lousy depends like all fishing weed this year is outstanding this year try to find a clear spot try www.fishingcorpus or breakaway.com for current info if I can help bigshellbob@hotmail will uaually find me if im home in houston

I think I hooked a ling rock hoping the
mansfield jetties.
Something big was working a school of mullets coming straight at me, I tossed a soft plastic in to the middle of the pod and was imediatly slamed hard. Lost it in the fight...never got a
look.

We ended up about 40 miles down the beach and set up camp. With the 30mph wind and unfishable surf we packed it all up and went and got a hotel room! I was mesmerised with how beautiful bigshell was and will make the trip again when there is not 5-6 foot swells and the seaweed dissapears. I di manage to catch a few Skip Jacks in the surf on Trout killers!

Visit extremecoast.com. Some of those guys fish that area every weekend. Also surfsharking.com can help as well.

I was going to suggest extremecoast.com too. Most of the folks who post up there are about as knowledgable about fishing the surf and PINS as anyone around and are ready to share it. Keep us posted about your future trips down. The Summer is heating up and so is the fishing!
