Howdy, I'm getting stationed in Corpus and expect to be there in about 2 weeks. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Pensacola Fl right now and regularly use and love the forum we have for our area. I'll probably be wade fishing for the most part and getting a kayak eventually. Thanks in advance for any help. And please let me know if any of you are headed to the Florida Panhandle any time soon.

Try Fish Pass. U can either hit up the fish pass jetties or the bay side. Fishing the bay at fish pass is real good this time of the year for big trout. I dont know your skill or what u plan on using for bait but if using live bait, try croakers or live shrimp. If using lures, i like ttk jrs and top waters. Most of the fish hold right on the drop, next to the grass. U will also find a bunch of people wading the backside of the sandbar. The sandbar is productive but i would stay near the grass line. Its fun in the early morning and evening to throw topwaters out over the grass. Fish pass is located on the highway that runs from corpus to Port aransas and it is right after the Port Aransas Fire Dept. U will drive over a small bridge(watercrossing) with a small green sign that says fish pass, once u drive over it the turn is directly to the left. U will need a truck or car with good ground clearance and will drive all the way to the point. Once u get to the end, u will quickly see a ton of good spots to fish.. good luck. With a kayak, shamrock cove is good. If u get bored in the evening, any of the lights on the piers around the causway provide a ton of action for dink trout and reds. One last thing, u can always drive to port aransas. Port A is close and has a ton of places u can fish without a boat. I hope u enjoy your stay down there. I miss it already and wont be back for two more weeks. If u r down there the first two weekends of June and want to get some fishing in, hit me up. I will have odd hours when i am down there in two weeks. Will have to spend time with family and maybe some time offshore catching some snapper and AJs..

You can also buy a year pass for like $30 and go surf fishing for trout, reds, sharks and everything else. http://www.extremecoast.com/ http://www.surf-masters.com/ Both thoes site have a lot of good specific information to fishing in the Surf. If you get a Kayak you can run out large baits for sharks and bull reds. Dont get me wrong, wade fishing is a BLAST in the bays, but if your lookiing to socialise or just hang on the beach nothing beats setting up a few surf rods and cracking a beer waiting for the wonderful sounde of the clicker going off. Best of luck. Watch out for the Ray's
