I made a cast the other day and the reel made a terrible noise i think i may have not had the button depressed the whole way, it works still but feels rough when reeling. I took it apart and inspected all gears brass or plastic and all of the teeth are fine what should i be looking for? All help is much appreciated

You damaged a gear. It is very rarely visable. I would also bet your clutch mechanism is bad that caused it. Not releasing the pinion fully and engaging the reel before the lure starts are the two main causes for gear failure.
