I am takind a friend and his son night fishing Thursday and was wondering which ramp I should use ? I havent fished on RH in a few years. His son just wants to fish out of a boat.

On a side note : I was going to just fish under the bridges but any suggestions to put this little guy on some fish would be appreciated.

Thanks

I like Harbor Bay - Village/Horizon@I30. It is the only one I can think of with a cleaning table. Costs $12, but it is clean and very secure.

If using a public boat ramp, use the ramps on the south side of I30. I've bounced off stumps the past couple of time I've gone out when I put in at the Chaha/Bass Pro ramp. I go REALLY slow all the way to the bridge so it's never an issue for me.

+1. i found a stump about 40 yards directly off the end of the rocks on the north side of 30. really thought i should have been through them but glad i wasnt on plane.

Chandler's is $10 except on weekends when unless you have a year pass you can not launch!! They do have a cleaning station but only when you are booked with www.jvguideservice.com grin

I don't use that ramp because I come from the east but someone really needs to get in there with an underwater chainsaw and do some trimming. I use the NW Dalrock ramp but it is getting a little tougher to beach with the water level. The hole in the second lane from the north side is reachable with the trailer again. The SW ramp at Dalrock is now a "Fishing Ramp". The 66 ramp in Rockwall is a good one but it is just too far to where I fish.

They open at 6am, not sure about the time they close.

I have launched from the 66 ramp in Rockwall the last 2 weekends and it's ok. The water is low and you don't want to get out of the middle. The other issue is the best fishing is South of the 30 bridges so you make a pretty good run to get there. Water level is good between 66 and 30 but you need to stay towards the Rockwall (East) side to stay out of the timbers.

The city of Dallas has an Auto-loader on the Right side of the NW Dalrock Ramp. Its tricky to use though. If you do it just right you can sink your trailer in a whole at the end of the ramp and the boat will just float right off! Try this at your own risk however as you may end up like the guys in my Bad Night Post!!

Thanks for all the help guys. One last question, which would be better the Rockwall side bridge or the BPS side bridge ? Not asking for anyones fishing spot just a good direction to get started. Thanks again.

I load 5-7 days a week on the NW Dalrock Ramp and have never had any problems save what I saw last night. Its not a very steep ramp so I have to back up further than I would like but its a wide ramp and beats the heck out of waiting for space on the SE Dalrock ramp which is much steeper!!
