Looking for a good rod / reel combo. Been looking at vendetta's and veritas' but have read a ton of reviews about them snapping at the tip. I'm wanting to stay under $250 for the combo. I mainly throw t-rig's and square bills so a good cranking stick should suffice. Let me know what combo you guys are using so I can check them out.
Thanks.

I haven't heard much about Vendetta's breaking. I have several combo's I like. I throw a Curado E5 on a Falcon Bucoo. I throw a Citica 200E on a TFO. I also like have a Citica and a Curado on Falcon Lowriders.
If you shop around, you could get any of these under $250.
Good luck!

I have broken a Vendetta and it was my fault and I told Abu and they still replaced it free. I have two Veritas rods and have used the heck out of them and I would not hesitate to buy another. I really wish ALL my rods were Veritas. You could match a medium to high end Revo with one of the rods and be under your budget and have something I believe you would really like. The rods have a three year warranty.

Got it narrowed down to either a veritas or a bucoo and either a revo s or a citica.. You guys have any opinions?? I know with the citica's on sell right now, they're probably my best bet, but i know there are alot of revo fans as well.

Its hard to beat a shimano. They will always be reliable. As far as rods are concerned, I have 14 falcons. No breaks, no hassle, and 14 sticks I can call on any time. Nuff said!
Some folks say that fishin on a Sunday is a sin, but if a fish bites my line, you know I'm gonna reel him on in!

In your price range, I would consider a Shimano Crucial on clearance an either the Citica E or curado E on clearance as well. Best bang for your buck, IMO. I think the crucial blows away the Bucoo and ABU--but it should. It's a 160-170 rod.

My main setup wasn't a combo, but it's still a great price setup for what I got. The rod is a 7' Penn Saltwater Power Stick and it's lasted for years, staying strong while still offering amazing feel and sensitivity. Boy, it's caught just about everything without fail. The reel wasn't all that expensive either. I had it in mind well before I finally got to purchasing it and I'm so glad that I did! Once again, yes it's a Penn...lol! I forgot all the numbers or the exact full name of it, but I know that its title is "Live Liner" which is really great in the surf. I recommend this "Live Liner" reel perhaps even more than I'd recommend my Penn Power Stick, believe it or not. It's just that great of a product from the great company that Penn has long been. Check 'em out! http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/...SHOPPING_435838http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xcart/c...00L__5600L.htmlhttp://www.scottsbt.com/pennparts/reelspecs/penn5600l.htmUnfortunately the reel was apparently discontinued, but I did notice that there's still another type of "Live Liner" out there by Penn called the Slammer. Either way, I'd still look to Penn in your case whether you're purchasing a rod and reel separately or as a combo. They're great as far as I'm concerned and that "Live Liner" that was "discontinued" a few years back is STILL working amazingly for me! Try to find one though if you can.

shimano curado ( you can get them for 120-130 since they are being replaced) paired with either a low rider or shimano crucial rod.

I would definitely think about a Curado E. That will leave you around $100 for a rod. Right now Cabelas has Dobyns rods on sale and for $119 you can get a Savvy 733c or 734c, these are great all purpose rods. My next choice in that price range would be a Falcon Bucoo BCC-5-17, its a 7' MH for $109.

I love the Falcon Cara 7ft its a heavy action rod but fishes more like MH I use it exclusively for Trig and its unbelievable how sensitive it is. On the reel I use all H2O Mettle from Academy awesome reel for the price if you went with that rod and reel combo it would run you around 200, that would leave you enough money to get Seaguar Invisx which will help with the sensitivity.

Really, just search and try. Afterall, why buy something unless you know what it's capable of and have in some way come in contact with it, ya know? Try before ya buy, then reel in a deal...lol!

Suffix. I have been going bonkers for the last 2 mos trying to figure out which combo to purchase myself. I reviewed countless products and did my homework but none of it made any major difference. I had to go into stores and see what felt comfortable. Yesterday I settled on a 6'9 vendetta and a citica 200e because that it what felt the best to me. Went out armed with my new today and it was like fishing for the first time. The combo was flawless. So just go pick up every rod/reel in the store to find what feels best to you.

Adding to that, I'd also tell (and recommend to) anybody that if the rods and reels that they're looking at "feel" similar, then why not buy the one on sale or at a discount price, ya know? Everybody has a sale going on for rods, reels and combos all the time, so just look for that and you'll have it made.
