This is a crappie fishin problem! I know, i am not the only one that has broken multiple transom mount transducers off crappie fishin in the trees! I always wind up breakin one of when the wind is blowin a little and i am tied up in the trees with some minners. Is there a gaurd out there to protect the trasducer? I have found them on the internet for a trolling motor transducer, but not for the back of the boat. Any body got any ideas? something you have rigged up that works? anything? transducers are gettin expensive! Help!

Go to academy and buy some "water weld". It is less than $10 and will put that transducer back together in no time. Don't ask me how I know this.

Not much you can do except raise the mount above the bottom of the boat. Don't know what type boat you have, but mounting the transducer below the bottom line of the boat will get it broken off sooner than later.

Put your transducer on the inside of your hull and your problem will be solved. I have my transducer mounted this way and it works great.

Thanks, your post just gave me an idea on how to develop a bracket to help with this issue. If your unit does not have a side scan capability, then I would suggest mounting inside the hull with a good epoxy glue as long as the mounting surface is void of any pockets and the hull surface is in direct contact with the water.

Come on Guys, your smarter than that. Attach your transducer to a flat piece of material, plastic or wood. Attach the board to the transum with a spring loaded screen door hinge at the top. When you hit something it will just kick up and snap back down.
If you're tied up and bouncing up and down I guess anything might break off. Anything but a sidescan transducer should be inside the boat.

Wow, $150 min for this transducer! Again, less than $10 "water weld" for me. I like the idea of having a transducer at the front and back end of the boat to get the most cone coverage. My biggest problem was with the trolling motor mount, got that fixed with the built in sonar on the Terrova.

Mine is a hummingbird 180. I just used some jb marine weld and made a big puddle of the jb and put the tranducer in and wiggled it around to get all the air out. Then wedged a small board on top to keep it from sliding around why the stuff cured. Works great. I can't use the left right fish fish sensor but I don't use the fish Id anyway.
