Here's my report for the past week: Took the wife to Aransas Pass for two nights. While we were there we caught a good 32" Blacktip off the North Copano Bay Pier on semi-live finger mullet. Other than that we were catching a bunch of good gafftop, some hardhead, and a few schoolie trout. Went from there to the Hunt's Castle pier in Rockport and caught a few small trout on DOA shrimp. Hooked up a porpoise and had to cut my line... time to go home.
The next evening we went wading in Little Bay where we caught a nice Drum, and few small trout, and hardheads all on shrimp.
Tried the pier at the city park in Aransas Pass... wouldn't recommend it. Fished the S. Jetty in Port A and caught a bunch of perch.
Our last morning we went to Fish Pass where I got into some nice reds. Came home with a 25" and a 23" but the best of all: I hooked what I thought was a red the way it was fighting. Finally got it up close to me when I saw it was a Speck. After landing it and measuring it turned out to be 29 inches long! TOO, maybe that's the one that got away from you!
Had a great time but now have to get back to work. Good luck to you all!

Way to go Hardhead!!!! Son and I fish the Pass Late morning to after mid day Sat. Caught only 1 keeper. What bait were you using?
Glad you had fun. Are you going to eat it or stuff it?

Your right, you notice scottie, that HH hasn't posted since the 29"er info was posted.........I guess he's doing interviews and the like.......Really hope he has pictures!!.....I'm guessing her weight at 8.5 or so?........Free-lining shrimp?.....come on man, details, details!!!!! ....been 10 years since I caught anything that size........since that tropical storm in June of '93........also at Fish Pass......guess that's why I went down yesterday afternoon to try with the wind from the NE. Conditions were good but too sunny for the ideal conditions, caught 21 trout, kept 3 over 18", a number of trout right at 15 that I let go, just too close to tell, all outside the sand bar. Also caught a number skippies, no monsters, and a gafftop of all things.....all but 2 trout on an Alameda, had to resort to that to get the fish to find the shrimp......you know I prefer free-lining......but desperate times require desperate solutions.......I'm telling you F.P. is acting like it's May not July......tomorrow or Thursday would be a good day for wading..........Tide was way up......29" (sigh)

I think I saw him on Dateline tonight. You think we can get an autograph?
TOO, all outside the sand bar? When we were there Sat. Nothing from what I could see was being caught outside the bar. Are you fishing to the left outsdie the bar?

Sorry guys... I used to check the forum everyday from work but my first day back from the trip they fired me. Still tryin to see straight.
Yes TOO, I caught her inside the sandbar but further around the corner to the right. Very little wind and freelining shrimp on a sandy area amongst all the grass. I have a few pictures but I'm not sure the best way to share them.
Hey Scottie, remember that morning we were at the Pass and saw all those fish feeding around us? I was in the middle of it again but was wondering if maybe they aren't mullet feeding. I pulled out a few reds and a few trout but when I was able to see them in the water they looked like mullet. The dorsal fins above the water sure makes them look like Reds though.

Hardhead, sorry to hear about your job. You're a smart fella so you will land on your feet in a better job.
You know they could have been mullet. However, I would like to believe that they were trout or reds.
When you say to the right you are refering to the right as you face the bay side of the Pass?

Sorry about the job.
Look at the bright side. You'll be able to fish more.
