jsplinter is correct it doesnt have the ethernet connection but I actually paid 749 for mine in store it was a closeout price and I wasn't concerned about the ethernet connection. and I'm not positive but think that is the only difference. I have several friends that have the one with the ethernet connection and the picture quality and features appear to be the same. you can stil get free upgrades and everything you just use a sd card. but it is another option to save a liitle bit though.

If it does not have HD at the End of the Model Number: 798ci HD it is a prior to 2011 Model and does not have the Ethernet Port.

Bottom is the Ethernet Port 798ci HD 2011 Models.

So the ethernet is only difference? Or was HD added also?

Ethernet is the only difference. The resolution is the same.

+1 for the 798CISI. I have the 2010 model and I love it. Great pics, many function. Love that Switchfire, too.

Does the 798 come pre-loaded with lake maps? If it is are they pretty good?

+1.. bought the 798 of last year and it works great. Got the free upgrade that gave me the down imaging as well. Saved money doing it that way.
