Going on vacation in Puerto Vallarta and was trying to find a good fishing guide. Not really wanting to fish for anything in particular, actually the more variety the better. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion, but $5500 is a little steep for my budget! That is a slick rig though.

I think PV just got put on the US gov't travel advisory list? oh well, there are many panguero's that are much less expensive. ck out: www.bloodydecks.com www.mexfish.com good luck & post a report when you get back!

If he is still around Chuys Charters , my old friend Jesus Cruz you can probably find him in PV phone book -- runs a big panga with twin engines , will take you out to islands, big pacific swells and beyond -- I will see if I can locate him for you -- I never paid for a trip, but back in the early nineties he only charged around $300 for full day - you supply your own tackle and donate your fish. Take some squid imitations and mackeral imitations -- be sure to give your guide some gratis --
I just went out bottom fishing most times -- big jigs and trailers will keep ya busier than a one legged man --
If ya never been offshore PV , you will find out right fast you aren't in the Gulf anymore - ground swell averages six to seven feet or more but with fairly long periods -- if you are susceptible to motion sickness be sure to take care of it before venturing out.

Thanks for the input and the advice! I was kind of hoping of being able to keep our catch and the resort will cook it up. Also, I wasn't planning on taking any tackle. Sounds like he's a heck of a guide though.

If we can catch 'em I'll definitely post some pics of what we ended up with.

Go to the Marina. Lots of boats to book there. Prices get better if they don't have a scheduled trip.
If I remember correctly a Panga was $350 for a full day trip.
