Hi, Ive been reading all the great material on the site for some time now but I'm just now joining.
Im looking to get a rod/reel combo and as of now Im looking at either a Sahara or the Symetre... is the Symetre worth the extra money? Also how would the All Star rods do with the reels mentioned. Academy has a sale going on right now with the All Star Rods, Falcon Original & Coastals. I'll mainly be wade fishing with this set up for specs, reds, flounders etc. All the help would be appreciated. Thanks!

the coastals are tough to beat for $90. I like those better than any All-Star Academy carries.
Not sure on the reels.

As good as the Sahara is, it's hard to find a reason to get the Symetre for $20 more if you're on a budget. Can't go wrong pairing it with a Falcon Original. I've been using a Falcon Original with a Sedona and it's a pretty solid combo.

Yaaa im on a budget because I just bought a new surf rod/reel combo as well. I think I'll stick with the Sahara for now. I was just curious to see if the Symetre was worth the extra money beacuse Ive owned many Sedona's and Sahara's before. Thanks for the input!

Sahara is a good choice. Depends on what your planning on doing with it but the 2500 is pretty good all around reel for both light salt water and freshwater applications. Put some braid on it and have fun!
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

A Falcon Original is hard to beat as well, that was my first good rod and Its done me well for over 10 years.

I ended up getting the Sedona 2500FD with 30lb power pro on it. Fishing Tackle Unlimited had a Shimano Compre on sale so I went with that for the rod. This rod/reel is actually for my gf so I think this will suit her well. Thanks for all the input!
