got a report a little while ago that three sharks, an 800#, a 540# and a 520# were caught in the Galveston ship channel (between galveston and bolivar). the 800 pounder fought for 13 1/2 hours. it's that time of year when sharks move in close and spawn...bolivar beaches have shark pups washing up left and right. only other thing around right now are the spanish macks, which are being eaten by the sharks. if you want a shark, the gettin's good in the surf.

I wish they would tell where that was specifically. That is an extremely large shark and def. a man eater. Makes me a bit nervous thinking about getting in the water!

back in the late '60s i watched two guys in a 16' boat tring to subdue (kill) a hammer head shark taht was only 2-3 feet shorter than their boat, they had reeled him in and sliped a rope around its tail one guy held with the rope around a cleat while the other tried to shoot it in the head with a 9mm hand gun. they where in the ship channel between the jetties just past the boat cut.

mid 70's i was fishing off the stern of the cement ship catching a ton of specks and putting them on my stringer. i was in a 16 ft wooden boat when i noticed my stringer going out and then comming back to the boat,, well several of these stringer movements and i got curious and halled it up , nothin but heads !, ok i put my small rod down and put one of the speck heads on my surf rod ( ok it wasent a surf rod but close), BLAM ! 60 yards of line went out then got slack, i reeled like no bodys business BLAM out it went again, this time it moved my boat to the left then to the right. ok after an hour i got it to the side of the boat, it was a shark(kind unknown) and was 3/4 the legnth of my 16 footer boat, what a rush
