I have no clue what to call them. Got a bunch of rods and I unload them from the boat when I get home. Also pre-rig them before I go fishing somewhere. Got tired of the lures hooking the lines of the other rods. So I cut all the parts needed and then got my wonderful mother to stitch them. I think me with a sewing machine could be dangerous. Made sure they were large enough for a DD22 so they should fit most lures. I've got a bunch of rods and there was enough supplies for 2 or 3 extra in case I lose a couple or buy a couple more rod and reels.

The red fabric is a tight weave polyester similar to an umbrella fabric. The hook is not likely to go through the fabric, but it can if you grab the sleeve and slide it hard downward. But that's not very likely unless you are VERY rough with your rods. The outside blue fabric is an outdoor fabric so it should handle the sun or weather pretty well. Both are washable so you can toss these in with a cold clothes wash if they are dirty.
They also have a foam pad inside so they float if they blow off the deck of the boat. I also added a metal piece in one side. The plan is to add a magnet under the rod box lid and/or on the deck. That way I can pull the cover off, put the cover on the magnet, and start fishing right away without worrying about the cover flying off the deck cause it's stuck to the magnet.

That is a great idea. You could even get color specific and make them to customer specs. Nothing ticks me off more than having to untangle lures from one another and other poles.

Yeah, these look really good. Any advice on sewing them? Is there a specific "seam technique" that you use?
