Well fellow fishermen, the wade fishin and night fishing was fair this past weekend. Due to the continuous outgoing tide all day long, the wade fishing was semi-slow for everyone. There were some keepers but I didn't see anyone with any full stringers of specs. What was being used on catching them critters was from what I've seen was with little fishies and white curly tails. This was Saturday. Then Saturday night came and prepared for the night fishing, and to no avail fishing was fair as well. Folks beside did not catch much of specs, just a few here and there. Then the tide changed and all lights were out. However.......the next morning, lo and behold, the flounder were biting on the gulf side of the bridge. Caught 3 very nice flounders ranging in size from 15 to 18 inches. Oh yeah, Saturday late afternoonn this lady next to me caught a monstrous flounder........funny though ......because when she was reeling in her line she thought it was hung up, not at all it was a nice at least 20 incher or larger from a distance. As for what I was using for bait, mud minnows and croakers on my hooks. I also happened to catch some specs on my live bait too. Now,supposedly, this coming up weekend, the tide change should be better with multi tide movements and more movement of bait in the water. Therefore, I will be there this weekend to go for the second round. Well folks there ya go for the action at the pass. See ya'll there, good luck, and be SAFE !!!

Hook 'Em. There is a kayak tournament going on in the East Bay area this weekend and Rollover is one of the launch points. My wife and I will be there with one other couple prefishing Friday morning and then we're camping out there and fishing the tourney Saturday. We'll be on the northeast side as close to the water as we can get. I'm in a green Ford Ranger, one of the yaks will be on top with one in the bed. Don't hesitate to come over and say hi! Also, don't know what time you're getting there but if you'd like to take one of my kayaks out in the bay to fish the islands and cuts on Friday evening (we'll probably just be kicked back going over strategy for the next day) you're more than welcome to go for it. You can cover a lot more water in the yak than you can wading. Hope to see you down there. My name is Jason. Just yell at me, I'll look.

TxHook'Em My roomate headed down there on Wednesday the 17th and caught some nice size keeper trout on the surf side, wade fishing. Said they were hitting anything he threw at them. I plan on heading down there early Saturday morning. Question for you, do those bait shops right there at the cut sell all of the mud minnows and croakers to do a little fishing in the cut? I usually use touts or mirror lures. Hope the fish are biting and the sun is shining.

Hey GoinCoastal,
I know for sure that the bait shop "Four Star Quality RV Park" phone number (409-286-5712) have plenty of mud minnows and croakers last time I checked. As for croakers there I'm not sure. I got mine there at the 4 Star due to its quick convenience of being closer to where I was fishing from. I hope you do well out there this weekend, i think it will be pretty crowde this weekend too. Be careful in the surf!!!

Hi Coastal,
I reccomend the 4 Star, the people there are friendly and they dont post signs saying, "Bathroom for Customers Only" as one of the other bait shop does. I dont think we should be required to make a purchase after all the monies that are spent in this other bait shop for their bait, then have to come back to buy something else just to use thier bathroom. Four Star is not that way. They greet everyone that walks in, even if its just to use their facility. The port-a-potty is disqusting and the sledge you have to walk on to even get to the potty is horrible and VERY unsanitary. So thats my reason for suggesting 4 Star. You wont be disappointed.

Well, lets get this right, as you said in your own words...Your sewer you paid 27000.00 for was paid for by FEMA money, right. You did have damage from the hurricane thats why you lost you sign, and obtained other damage to your business, right? Well, then WE ALL need to be considered "paying customers" because we as tax payers pay for FEMA.

tx, think about it as if you own the store, what if I came in a took a big sh!t on your bathroom floor and then walked out you would have the same sign....If you dont like the bait shop then stay out of it, dont just down talk them

Well Miller; First of all I dont go in there. I take my business elsewhere. But what does paying or not paying have to do with the ill manners of someone taking a Sh!t on your bathroom floor. The same people that are "paying customers" can also be the same people that was stealing her toilet paper, and doing all the things she mentioned in her response. So to say you have to be a paying customer to ensure you dont steal or etc is kinda silly. I simply was telling the gentleman who's business I would reccomend. And as for you advice "dont down talk them", well, this is still America where I have the right to free speach. And I never mentioned the bait shop by name so who is to say I was even talking about northend. I suppose she assumed that. As far as the FEMA well, she was telling people she was waiting on her FEMA money to get her business back off the ground after the hurricane. We ALL work "our tails off". You choose what you do for a living just as I do. If youre working too hard, then do something else, or better yet, hire some friendly staff to give you a break.

To those that have previously replied to my minor question of what bait camp had which bait... I just returned from rollover, and did use the North End Bait Camp and was very pleased with their service. It was very clean, curteous, and convienent, everything I was looking for. And they had live shrimp when the other bait camp (do not know the name) did not have it. To you at North End Bait and Tackle, thanks for the service. Now if you could just inform the fish next time that I will be there and they need to be biting my bait, I would greatly appreciate it. We are all out there to catch fish and have a good time, let's not lose sight of what's important. Hope the fish are biting and the sun is shining.

Sorry to jump in, but this is the second complaint that I have personally heard about the rest rooms at North End Bait and Tackle. Being an avid fisherman, I really appreciate having clean rest rooms available, but have never been denied the use of such a facility. I understand that the rest rooms are intended for customers, but is this a reason to loose potential future customers? I have never seen people so concerned about who uses the rr. I would say in most instances that the first thing on your mind when in need of a rr, is using the rr. I know I sure can't hold it forever. Do you require customers to purchase something before they use such facilities?

If i had to use the RR, I would and no one could tell me other wise. When a man got to go, he got to go. Anyway, I try to stay away from public pier fishing becasue its public and most of the public is stupid. Besides geting your line continuously tangled, you usually dont catch very good fish other than the occasional schoolies and bull red/drum. Your better off finding an isolated spot and wade fishing. There is a reason why you catch fish in places that require a little more effort.

Well, when I am wrong, I apologize. However, Im have an email where my husband wrote to you and said he was wondering about the fishing there and youre response was, "I could care less about the fishing here." He still has the email from you, and you also mentioned you were waiting on your FEMA money to come through. But ya know what this stuff is ruining the website here. Its about fishing and having fun, so I am bowing out gracefully. I dont want to ruin it for others. I simply wrote if you look in the first post that I reccommended another bait shop, thats all. I have a little girl we bring to fish and sometimes I just cant stop at the counter and buy something to be allowed to let them go to your restroom. I have no personal problem with you or your business. In fact, I never mentioned your bait shop but you came back with a response assuming it was you I was describing. Anyway, this is my last post on this, I want the guys to be informed about the fishing, not what you have to do at your shop in order to use your facility. Its just not fair to continue such nonesense. Hope all you guys forgive my post if they were annoying or disruptive. I may however, call upon one of you avid fishermen to show me more about the fishing there. My daughter and I try to come every other weekend, and we could sure use some pointers sometimes. Good fishing guys and stay safe! tx_mermaid & little mermaid

Absolutely nothing. Would it make you feel better if a person who sh!t on your floor at least purchased a couple pounds of shrimp from you? The problem is with the people there, not whether or not they're customers. Sign or not, if the employees/owner were polite about things, then that's understandable. That's the only thing I'll say about this topic. And lets get something else straight: a person is allowed to have an opinion, even if it is talking down about a baitshop. No where in this thread did anyone flame the bait shop in question. (And this post isn't flaming any bait shops neither.)
