I'm old fashioned but I like a regular j hook. Circle hooks are good but you have to be sure you use a large enough one. As far as the specific size goes you want match the size of the hook to the size of your bait thinner hooks for live bait and heavy hooks for cut or dead bait.

When I pick out the size weight at the coast I base it mainly on two things the structure I'm fishing and the wind. Heavier weights for stronger winds and lighter weights for really rocky structure or shells to try and keep from hanging up as much.

That's my two cents. I've been fishing at the coast my whole life. I don't fish there but about 5-6 times a year but I always seem to do ok. Good luck!

I like to use treble hooks for trout and circle hooks for reds, just make sure to snell the circle hooks onto your line. Hope this helps.

The Copano Bay Secret Reef video series is not just about Copano Bay, as far as fishing structure with terminal tackle.

Hooks, terminal tackle for achieving the Texas Slam, .... trout, red n' flounder limits and trophy's in your bay system are discussed as well.

That type of info can be implemented into any bay system by an angler looking for limits, fun and/or trophy's.
