When ya'll don't yak out bait are you just fishing the first gut? Like just ten or fifteen feet from the shoreline? It doesn't look like you are getting wet is why I asked. Maybe you can cast to the second gut from shore. Those reds would be a blast if you don't have to get wet every time you checked a bait. Me and some buddies are planning on taking a trip maybe sometime in early January. Will the reds and drum still be there or should we wait until march or april?

The fish on that trip where all caught in the "wade" gut. (the gut before the first bar). We drove till we found the wade gut 6'+ and fished it. normally I fish the first and second guts with long casting and wading out to the first bar. The wade gut on PINS starts to get deep past the 15mm or so.

Reds and Blacks will be there in January.

Good luck!

Thanks Kenn08, Unfortunately, black drum make excellent shark bait for the winter months, so all blacks where frozen whole for future use. (this weekend). I will keep a black for eating if I get skunked on other "eaters".

Happy New Years to everyone! stay safe! Don't drink and drive..it's not worth it.
