The summer pattern is finally in full affect. Boston Bob and I have been teaming up with some of my big party clients. And ole Lewisville has not let us down. The morning bite has been slow for hybrids. And hard to find a good productive hump that has fish stacked . I hate chasing shoolies for the simple fact there is always 1 or 2 who just dont give a about anyone around them. The sandbass are feeding in the middle of the lake like they have now for the past 2 weeks. Its non stop action. And if you have the patience to slab or present your lure below the dinks some nice 2 and 3 lb sandbass are below them . Normally there are hybrids mixed in. But the hybrid bite seems to materialize later in the day and man has that been on fire. They are schooling from the dam all the way to white house. If you cant find schooling fish ummm then your not on Lewisville

i went last night and there was tons of surface activity, but i think my lure was just too big for the sandies. i did get hooked on a few hybrids though.

General area of topwater? I drove all over and saw limited action. Found big suspended hybrids at 121 cut and had a ball though.

I've been out a few times lately and been working some of that topwater action. Saw one area the other day that just had shad flipping on top of the water - not really a surface feed.
I was throwing the slab out and letting it sink to a 5 count and then doing a reel and pause action. Most of the time I had a fish on at the first pause, if not right after I picked it up initially. The fish were there, just not surface feeding. I got bored and went back to trying to slab up hybrids.

I saw a bunch of shad flying to the top of the surface but they would not hit my lure for [censored]. i think it was my reeling method or something. i guess you are right. they were not feeding on the top

Sand Bass Man, you said you thought your lure was too big? I was using a BPS XPS Lazer Eye Deep Diving crank bait last weekend to get below the schoolies, I had some barely bigger that the bait hitting my lure. Guess that had BIG eyes when they came to the dinner table.

I can undertand that. A bigger frustration is being the only boat on the middle of 2 schools covering 30-40 yrds, catching fish and having your battery die so you can't move the boat. Just enough juice get to the dock. Had to replace both the cranking and trolling motor battery 2 weekends ago.
heading out after work with my 2 sons. can't wait to get back on the lake. It has been a long week.
