I'm thanking about buying the Loweance down image depth finder and looking for some feedback on down image vs Humminbird side image. I feel blind with the common depth finder now and want to see more.

Im learning my 798 now and i like it alot. Would go with the bigger screen if I had the money to. Humminbird has shown me great customer service as well as free upgrades to the system...

Where would you put the SI if you only have one? Console or TM? I am going to buy one real soon.

You have to make speed to side image therefore I suggest the cockpit most usually 2-5 mph gives best pics

The 798si is $849@ Universal Mania. That is where I got my 1198 & 788HD DI. Best price & great cust. service.
Plus the main thing that seperates HB from Lowrance is the cust. service. HB's is great & Lowrance has none.

@ capnbreak, the price on poorfish is after you add it to the cart and type in "summersale" for the promo
@ everyone that is buying the humminbird from academy, the ones online for $799 are last years model and not the HD ones that have ethernet capability.
