I already know this will get some interesting responses...

My Lady has never been crabbing so I thought we would take a trip to the coast and catch a few while we are there. I need some help with some locations to take her to. Anyone caught any big Blues lately? Have not set a string with a chicken neck on it since I was a kid. Thought it would be fun for the day!!

Crab boil, Corn, patato and some BIG Blue Crabs follows later that night...

I tried the chicken-on-a-string bit....Let me suggest a crab trap. They go for about $40 and are worth every penny. You don't lose any crabs plus they are re-usable and you can rod and reel fish while they are fishing for you. I bought the nets and tried the string bit, but found those were just not worth the trouble. My .02 cents. Good Luck.

If the crabs arent running the string can be a drag.Right now they are running and a string, chicken necks and a dip net and you can fill a cooler quick.I too get frusrated with a neck and a string when it is slow and prefer the inexpensive two ring hoop nets. Two bucks and a quarter at The Big Store in Crystal Beach. My Wife doesn't fish much but she loves to crab so I accomodate her with a crabbing trip in the daytime which leaves the nighttime for my fishing. Now if a big ol flatfish decides to cooperate we have a meal to die for. tight lines

If I can get away from the Gulf I have a muley and an elk tag for colorado
