Find grass on points. Early topwater and flukes before it gets hot.

Honestly, the bite is real good if you know the spot specific areas of the lake. For instance, you can look at a bank 200 yards long and there will be a 20 foot wide spot on that bank that will be holding most all the fish. My clients were on one of those spots the other day and doubled up with 4 1/2 pounders. Turned around on the spot and caught another 4 1/2. If you find a spot holding some, fish it hard and several times during the day.
Punch the grass in 3 to 5 foot depths when the sun gets high. Lots of grass all over the lake now. Some good grass is even out in 14 foot depths in a couple of areas.
Like Stompy said, BE CAREFUL out there. The mouth of the cove at the bridge ramp is only 20" deep. The hump at the mouth is silted in and will get your prop unless you raise it up and idle out. You have to idle out anyway, as it's a no wake area there.

Last i heard was that the bridge is useable but only the south side of the ramp.
The dam ramp actually gets better the further the lake goes down. But your still going to get your feet wet if your solo.

Plan on getting your feet wet if you launch by yourself at the dam.

Last week we rubbed my friends boat across that point at the bridge ramp...This weekend we had a good foot soaking launching at the dam. Found good fish in the grass. Like Hag said catch one and there are more there.
I picked up a nice 8lb 5oz this weekend.

How are the motels there as far as breaking in to your boat/truck? Last time I stayed there no problems but some shady looking dudes was walking around the parking lot.

I've spent the night at the boat ramps and hotels there pretty often and haven't heard of problems either.

If you are worried about it stay with Stompy. His place is remote and no way you would have a problem. The hotels are safe too.

I feel better leaving my truck on the side of the road in Breckinridge than at the boat ramp at any east Texas lake
