I did not get to see the fish so I guess it could have been another species, I caught a 20 lb flathead a few minutes before this fish strummed me, I dropped a worm down into a cedar tree in about 22 feet of water, about 15 feet down this fished grabbed my bait and is still going with it, popped 25 lb big game, this was on Ray Roberts, naturally in a tourney.

This past April on Fork....caught a 9.93(over) the previous Saturday in a JCO tourney, then on the following Saturday caught a 9.75 (slot) in Bass Champs and Sunday fun fishing catch another 9.75. Then about 15 minutes before we were heading in, I get another giant on the line, this one looked and definitely fought different than the other three...fought her for at least a minute, she jumped 3 times and when I got her 3' from the boat with my brother in law with net in hand ready to get her, she jumped again and my heart sank when my jig came flying out. I have never caught a DD and know I lost one on that day. All those fish came off the same spot including another 9.5 (over) my brother in law caught that same day.

I know a few that lose a DD just about everytime they go out! If only there were really that many big fish around.

I did truly lose a big 13-15 lb (In my opinion) fish this year that still haunts me. Biggest fish I have seen or had on.

Havent lost too many others this year...I think maybe 3 or 4 over the 10 lb range.

I did see one I lost, was at least 7ft long and a good 150-200lb. Saw it at the boat and it broke the line.

It was a 7gil shark but hey...

Have lost too many to recall. The most memorable was at the state Championship 2005 at RC. Toughest multi-day tournament I have fished. Had about 7 pounds from the first two days, and was in the top half of the field with THAT!

Last day, my fish showed back up, and I had two over five real quick. Ground out two more keeper fish in the afternoon. 10 minutes to go, flipping a jig around the weigh in site, 4 fish in the box, people lined up around the retaining wall taking pictures. Flipped way up under a dock, THUNK! Set the hook, fish wrapped up way under the dock and was jumping. At least an 8lb fish. Couldn't do anything with her. When my line broke after a minute or so, a crowd of people watching went "Ohhhhh".

Went to weigh in with 4 fish. I had heavy stringer of the day, but was still very disapointed.

I lost a lunker for my dad in the late 90's. We were on Brady, and he was throwing a little white crankbait on fireline. He hooked a fish and wrapped a stump. Not being able to get up to the stump, he pointed his rod at the stump and pulled back. the stump pulled up out of the lake bottom and he reeled it to the boat, fish still on. Half way in the fish rolled, and it was massive. So, line wrapped around a stump, 3 feet or so of line between the stump and the fish, and a little crankbait in the mouth of a giant. When he got the stump to the boat, the fish rolled, and I stabbed at it with the net. Knocked the fish off and watched my dad have a, um, alergy attack! He caught an 8.80 late that day, and we both agreed that the fish he had hooked earlier was much bigger. My guess was 15+, but it was a teener at the very least.

I still feel guilty for knocking his fish off. He retired from tournament fishing shortly after, despite having a good 15 year run.

Love that description, I latched on to 2 of those U-boats up at Fork in April...not sure either one knew that I was there, cuz I never got their head turned....i'd much rather it go that way than see a 9# (or bigger) make like a tarpon, and jettison a lure back at me (as I'm puking over the bow in despair).... sick

...for that matter, it still stings when a 3# jumps off...we do have some excellent fisheries around... fish

We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?

I lost a giant guestimated at over 11lbs on Stillhouse hollow 2 winters ago on a suspending jerkbait. She came completely out of the water twice in 44 degree water!!! That one fish would have one the entire event.

Not me but buddy hooked a giant on houston county one day on chatterbait. Fish turned front of his ranger and as he gets it close im down to lip it and she jumps about two feet from my hand and chatterbait flew past my head. My pb is a 12month and this fish looked in that range. She made both of us sick.
