On all my 6' rods i use the Penn level wind and I love them... I have a 7'6" abu "workhorse" that I want to use for longer distance casting with a "launcher" bobber.

I am completely disgusted with Abu garcia reels... I had 5 of the BCX POS reels go out on my in a matter of months. They have lost my business and will not get it back until they mail me 5 replacement reels to compensate me for the 350+ $$ I spent on their [censored] reels that fell apart. So please do no suggest any abu products.

Now, I want an open face reel that can hold 200+ yards of 15 lb di braid and will cast well. I like a balanced crank and a clicker if possible...
Any suggestions?

The best thing you can do, is exactly what I did. I went up to cabela's and talked to the senior reel employee and told him exactly what I wanted as far as 200+ yds 15lbs open face and he showed me each reel that fit that description. He also told me the pro's and con's to each one and didnt steer me any ways besides what I picked out.

Never buy BCX, get the swedish made Abu's. My abu's and most my buddies are still working hard season after season.

Pro Angler Reels $55 Great Clicker and can cast a country mile.

Like Zach said NEVER buy a BCX as you well know now. They're not a real ABU they are JUNK.

Never-Ever Buy BCX, they are not "Made in Sweeden" Buy you a 6500 C-3 and get your faith back in ABU, you can pass them down to your Grandsons, the BCX are made in China and are "No Good" for any body that fishes more than 2 or 3 times a year, I know a lot of people that bought them and had the same luck you did!!!

The Proanglers are good reels too, I just prefer the ABU's "Made in Sweeden" and if this isn't stamped on the right side of the reel, it is made in China!!!

Good Luck to Ya!!!

If it aint from Sweden it aint an Abu.

BCX is typical Chinese trash.

Check Okuma's out. I have some going on five yrs and never had any problems.

Most of us fish 10-16 rods. Those reels are nice but way expensive. I've got an Avet on the way to use in saltwater. Looking forward to using it.

I've had the same scenario repeated with the non-Swedish made ambassadors. Avoid Chinese anything, except maybe moo goo gai pan. Anything that requires machining tight tolerances and a long working life demands American or European hands on the controls.

I agree with all of those that said if your Abu Garcia is made in Sweden, you will be alright. They will last a lifetime if they are taken care of and with proper maintenance. I personally didn't know that at least some of the newer Abu s are made in China mad , and for the record PENN reels are now made in China as well, just look on the reel it will say made in U.S.A on them; The newer PENN reels don't anymore.
