I have some clients who want to go bass fishing ans catch "trophy" size bass. I know what defines "Trophy" ? Since the clients have MINIMAL bass fishing experience I don't know what the answer would be, maybe +8 #'s.

I need to see if anyone can recommend a guide on Sam Rayburn for the week of August 8th, I will only utilize 1 or 2 days though. who could potentially fit the bill of putting us, myself and 1 or 2 clients on some big bass.

Suggestions ?????

Go to falcon...if your dead set on rayburn you can expect fishing to be tough for big fish like that...u can look into todd castledine on here..he has won alot of money on rayburn.

Honestly, you have a better chance catching a big fish at Fork or Falcon.

This may come across as harsh. While I agree that they'll have a better chance at catching "big bass" at Falcon, getting the fish in the boat is another story. If they have MINIMAL bass fishing experience, their odds of getting her in the boat at Falcon are further diminished.

I'd look into taking them somewhere private where they can get fast action and maybe catch a big fish on something easy to fish, like a spinnerbait or a trap.

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

Like fouzman,,,,, this also may sound harse, but is the real synopsis of this request.

First, August is a tough time to "guarantee" 8 pounders on any lake besides Falcon. This expectation from any guide is set a little too high. The weather will play a huge role in success or failure of a one day trip.

I would think that if they have minimal experience, they would be happy to catch "numbers" with a chance at a good fish.

That being said, I would recommend Chris McCall and his gang that guide out of the store as your best guides on Sam Rayburn. They always seem to know where the quality fish are at.

Rayburn can be real tough in august. I'd go to falcon or fork as others have said. Or find someone on here who can take you to a private lake as fouz said.

If I were you I'd try to get in touch with Craig Dowling, dude knows Rayburn and is well known in East Texas and nationally. I fished with him once real personable guy. It's been awhile since I spoke to him so I can't tell you for sure if he guides or not. Worth a try for sure since they're your clients and Rayburn is the lake.

Minimal bass experience does not exclude them from being able to put big fish in the boat.

There are tougher to catch fish than bass!

They may be saltwater fisherman.

As others have said, catching a trophy will be tough on rayburn in august. Id recommend chris McCall or todd castledine if it has to be on rayburn. If you go to toledo check out stephen johnston or tommy martin

Anyone have some contact info for Todd Castledine ? I would agree that Fork would probably tend to give better results BUT do to the fact that we will already be in East Texas for the business trip anyway big sam is the logical choice.
