For those that have been to this in the past, how was it? How many attendees, vendors etc...? Worth the drive from East Texas?
Thanks in advance!

Oh I would love to go. I want to watch other tyers, and fish. I wish it weren't so far away though.

Hoping it's really special for one particular DFF gentleman member. Won't know, though, until the dinner. Keeping fingers crossed, however.

Russell and I will be presenting, cooking, camping, and did he mention "fishing"? We need a big Texas showing at this event. What Russell didn't mention is that the only income the Southern Council has is that earned through the Conclave. Let's all show up and show them that "We are the SOC"!!!

I've attended SOC Conclave most years since '84... and I have to travel about 10 hours.
I'll be there again this year and every year for the foreseeable future... Its a great show!
If ya' like to tie, want to learn to cast better, love great programs, or just enjoy the camaraderie of lots of great fly fishing friends, then you really are missing fantastic opportunities if you don't attend Federation Conclaves and EXPO's.
Oh, and if ya' have kids under 16, then you HAVE TO BRING THEM and put them on Dry Run Creek! Dry Run is the very best trout stream in the country!
To fish Dry Run, you have to be under 16 years of age, can only use single barbless hooks, no bait and ALL the fish must be released (Although takin' a quick hero shot of "your young hero" with his/her "fish of lifetime" is allowed.)
Over the year's, my oldest son's best rainbow was close to 14lb.s and an another that was an honest 28 inches... Last year, my youngest son (now 11) complained that in two and a half days on Dry Run that he only landed 83 trout... bows and lots of browns averaging about 17-18 inches but with several over 22 inches! If he can get out of class for 4 days, then I'll bring him up for a few days on Dry Run prior to Conclave.
All of my kids have enjoyed this experience, and so should yours!

Is the air gettin' a little cooler or is it just anticipation of the SOC Conclave?
I can't wait to go!
See y'all there!
