Has anyone tried this new line they just came out in June and what are your opinions on it? I am thinking about picking up a spool. I fish from the bank so I try to get it out as farthest I can and the reviews say its the furthest casting line they've used.

I used to use the 4lb on my ultralite setups. I like the sensitivity a lot. The casting distance is comparable to fireline. Be sure to use a few wraps of mono on the spool prior to loading the nanofil.

The only complaint I have is that the line in 4LB is prone to breaking at the knot from the shock of hooksets on large fish.

It seems just about perfect for my needs IF they fix the shock strength. Although I hear it isn't as prone to breakage in the weights above 6lb.

The line is opaque underwater and white above. I can honestly say that it hasn't seemed to deter any bites. I outfished my partner using clear mono side by side. with topwaters.

All in all, it's OK except the shock strength. I am spooling my medium heavy spinning set this week with 12 lb. If you're interested in the results, PM me after Wednesday.

Glad to see this post! I just bought a spool of the 12lb. and fished it in a night tournament last night. It was like watching fly line lay down on the water. casting with this line is like no other. It truely seems to fly in the air, so use practice cast before targeting your water or you might find your line floating in the air and in the direction of a snaging stickup. My take is that the line is limp and supple as advertised, however, because the knot breaks easily, you gotta wonder why they stopped at 12lb. test as the strongest diameter. I suggest using a 5-6 feet of mono or flouro leader! This will help with the shock, TX-rig, C-rig etc. This line is primarily meant to be used with a spinning reel. As a test, I used it on both reels last night. If you use on a baitcaster, use 8-10 lb mono as backing. Larger ll mono creates too large of uni-knot and since 10lb nano is the same diameter as 3lb. mono, it will find it the knot quickly if it digs in. (The package states this if using on a baitcaster.) I'm still going to use this line because of its casting, but you need to understand the issues. The KNOT STRENGTH is dicey, so without a leader, be sure to retie every 20 or so cast. - Be extremely gentle with your backlashes! The line is slipery and is cooperative even with a spool needing a haircut, but check your line for fray if you suspect loop rash. If so, no prob with tieing a uniknot as a repair. This line is smooth and the knot will fuss as braid does for moving thru the guides, but a knot is a knot and just another obstical to over come on the next backlash.

OVERALL: this line is exciting to watch during the cast, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to string all your baitcasters with it until you get comfortable with it. REMEMBER, its primarily for your spinning rig and since it has zero line memory it makes it very appealing, just remember the lack of knot strenth.

I wish I had read this before i ordered some of this line.I hate fluoro because of the knot breakage problem and it sounds like this is even worse. If I need to retie every 20 cast I'll spend more time tying than fishing.Sounds like I was sold another worthless product by slick advertizing.I hope it is better than you make it sound.

thanks for your observations CoAngler. I am thinking of using this on my ugly stik 7" for hybrid fishing from the bank. I already use a leader, so that shouldnt matter too much. Thinking about replacing my 20lb spiderwire ultracast with the 12lb for the distance. I can only fish from the bank and usually fish at Lewisville. I hate having to use 3-4 oz weights and throwing as hard as I can, so hopefully this change would be good for me. Do you think the line will hold up if my target is for hybrids? I dont like to use heavy pound braids anymore because I dont like how its not as sensitive.

They recommend a double Palomar knot for it.

Going to use it again tomorrow. I hope to be better at it than last week since that was the first time I used it.

Talk to someone that cleans and repairs reels. Ask them about putting in some ceramic bearings. I'm going to do this soon. I was told there is instant gratification in the casting distance! Get your reels cleaned and lubed while yer at it.
