Went to Seabrook flats today,And Caught a Big stingray with about a 30" wing span. I also caught a black drum 33". I noticed lots of stingrays in the water. You could see them feeding on those glass minnows and slapping the water. I was out there around 6 am, and there are lots of glass minnows. I caught the ray on a red/white assassin, and drum on popping cork with Gulp shrimp. Water was green, wind light this morning. To finish the day off, I saw a shark about 4 foot, and thought it best to get out of the water.

There are exits on the North Side of the Kemah bridge. Take either one depending on your direction of travel. Both go to ToddVille rd. Park across the channel from the pier 61 restraunt. Cross the road and fish around and out from the pilings.
This is a great area to fish and practice the Texas shuffle.

It's a light hearted way of saying "Scoot the the stingrays away instead of stepping on them." I don't know what it is about that stretch of shore line but I really can't think of a place that has a higher population / concentration of rays.

Wow, the rays are that bad in that area? I guess I've never seen them there because the only times I've fished that area were from December-January when the rays hadn't returned to the bays yet.

I have fished the general area and have not seen many rays. It's good to know that they are there, as they produce a nasty sting. I will keep that in mind next time I am in that area. Any more reports from this area?

the reason for the rays i believe is that they get together in small "packs" to mate and then give birth. in galveston on the bay side at State Park they get back there every year and there was one year where i counted over 100 of them.
