Sorry guys. All you "experts" that can launch inside of three minutes. If waiting 12 for someone to launch is a royal pain, get there early and avoid the rush. Or be like me...I've got a personal boat slip so I don't have to launch mine every time I want to go out and be a beer-drinkin', lake runnin', crowd the other guy 'cause you "own" that fishin' spot, weekend warrior. Sorry, but I had to learn how to launch my boat the first time (just like we all did) and it really PO's me when somebody whines about it taking too much of your time.

Unless you are retarded, simply don't block the boat ramp. If you sympathize with the numbnutz who have no respect for anglers and take forever at the ramp...you're probably on the wrong forum.

Thats what happens when you go to Hubbard on the weekend in July... Expect it and deal with it; it's not going to change anything to lose minutes off your life stressing about it.
I was at Hubbard early one morning the second time I took my boat out. It was February, it was 30 degrees, and my motor wouldn't start. A nice gentleman offered help, I let him get on my boat and show me the trick to starting a cold 2-stroke engine. I was thankful to him and I really don't get too mad anymore when people are having trouble at the ramp. I'll help if I can.
Summertime is always a cluster at the ramp though. JUst sit back, expect 10-20 mins from everyone, and be thankful you can go to the lake and watch the summertime ramp chaos, it's entertaining if anything.

I'm so fast I just drive the truck trailer and boat right into the water. (Don't forget to put your manual trans trucks in gear when unloading fellas )

I have my 8 yr old boy back the trailer down while I unstrap, take off the transom saver and crank down. One fluid motion while on the move, like a one man pit crew!
Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim

Well, for those who are considering buying a boat, the Chevy truck commercials don't help any. They show a guy in a Chevy HD backing down to a ramp, stopping while the truck is diagonal to the angle of the camera (I suppose to show off how tough it is), then getting out to begin unloading the entire contents of his truck into the boat. I know, that is advertising, BUT, it still could give the wrong dumb [censored] the wrong idea.

Its just like a gun....if you dont know how to properly use it....dont buy it. People who are saying " if you dont like waiting in line at the ramp for a long time, then put in somewhere else"... " i say if you cant back a boat...dont own one"

Thredas like this remind me that i need to remember how blessed I really am to have a boat and spend time at the lake. If my biggest gripe is a few extra minutes at the boat ramp then I am doing good. I don't always do a good job remembering that but I will keep trying. Amen, though I admit to getting upset when people block a ramp for a prolonged period of time. Fished a tournament once where I had to load the boat and drive to the weigh in, and 2 wakeboarding boats had the ramp covered. "Bros" loading coolers and gear into the boat with their trailers still in the water, and then when pulling the trailers out, their friends swam on the ramp and held the boats there. Fortunately, I wasn't the only guy waiting so I didn't get docked any weight due to being late. They had plenty of shoreline to beach their boats on, yet they decide to look "cool" and not be polite.

I went to Jordan park Ray Bob one morning before daylight and the line was backed up all the way to the top of the parking lot. I got in line, waited 15 minutes, line never moved. I walked down to the ramp and nobody was launching. Turns out to be a tournament but it was too early to launch. Had the whole park shutdown. I walked back up, drove down the wrong side of the parking lot to launch (I left my bright lites on purpose and raised hell). It's not always the novice or pleasure boater doing stupid.
And I know who "Jeff" is.
