Having some problems with my boat engine. Boat starts fine but when I try to hit full throttle it sputters and dies; but will start right back up. My neighbor believes it may be the carburetor. Just trying to get a second opinion. The engine is a 4 cylinder inboard.

Easiest things to check and or repair first are: fuel filter, fuel lines and fuel tank vents. Sounds like a clogged fuel filter or fuel lines sucking air.

Could be your fuel pump also, check all the little stuff first then if there is still a problem replace the pump.

I had this problem 2 weeks ago and heard all the same things not saying they are bad but something told me to replace the spark plugs so I did. Took it to the lake and it ran just like it did before I would try this. This is the cheapest way depending on the spark plugs but it was way cheaper than other things I heard was wrong.

Sounds like the advise was worth what you paid for it. BTW most of the guys on here deal with outboards more than the inboards.

what year of engine is it? sounds like an ignition problem not a fuel problem. check plugs points if it has then and cap and rotor
