Fishing from the bank - where would I go to catch carp in the Longview area? I've never fished for carp, but they look like a lot of fun. Any help would be appreciated.

The Sabine river is full of carp and buffalo. I know that there is pretty good access to the river on the main highway heading south out of Gladewater. Try spreading a can or two of the cheapest generic sweetcorn into the area you are going to fish. Then use a small strong hook on a carolina rig and bait the hook with a good grade (del Monte) etc. of sweetcorn.
Either hold onto the rod or stay close. The carp can and will easiley jerk your tackle into the water. They can also be caught on a piece of bread balled up tightly onto a hook. If you use bread, make sure to leave the tip of the hook exposed.
Good luck.

I was just out there on the Sabine and just as you go upriver from the boat ramp in Gladewater, the water was only ankle deep. This drought is horrible for the river.

If your going to move anywhere on the Sabine right now your gonna get out and push often, not going in a big boat, and you are not going to go fast anywhere. Tough fishing.
